Senior Nurse

 We are looking for 2 Senior Nurses 1 x Adults & 1 x Adolescence
Role Summary:
To support the clinical Services Manager with the day to day management of clinical/professional issues in designated wards. To operationally manage within agreed standards, budgets, targets, timetables and constraints in accordance with any operational and strategic objectives.
Provide leadership and direction for area of responsibility by creating, advising and supporting developments in professional practice.
Main Responsibilities:
Support the Clinical Services Manager  in the responsibility of the nursing service, delegating responsibility and accountability to the Senior Nurses/Team Leaders as appropriate
Ensure links with Contracts Compliance, medical and nursing teams facilitate the efficient and effective assessment and admission of patients
Support the Clinical Services Manager in the day to day management of staff, ensuring that budgetary and human resource management are addressed
As directed, develop and review departmental policies and procedures to meet professional, statutory and organisational requirements
To participate in on call arrangements for the Hospital and role of senior nurse on site (9-5:30 as scheduled)
Participate in decision making and strategy formulation.
Provide monthly departmental report.
Monitor and evaluate nursing policy and practice ensuring that it complies with professional and statutory standards.
Support and participate in all planned visits / inspections as directed
Clinical and professional
Monitor all nursing care procedures and treatments to ensure they reflect professional, national and local standards for the service
Ensure all clinical reports are developed for individual patients; meet identified deadlines and are of a professional standard
Ensure compliance with CQC; CQUIN, QNIC and Low Secure standards
Ensure review of incidents in order that lessons can be learned and information shared
Support and advise Senior Nurses with clinical and security audit process ensuring action plans are implemented by target dates
Ensure all safeguarding requirements are met
Liaise with HR in relation to human resource planning, recruitment, retention; participation in the selection process for clinical staff.
Undertaking return to work interviews and monitoring sickness / absence trends
Undertake RAG assessments and ensure the process is carried out effectively throughout the nursing team
Facilitate the provision of clinical supervision to Senior Nurses; ensure that own supervision requirements are met
Provide channels of communication throughout the Hospital through which nursing staff can contribute information.
Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, ensuring that information is shared and lessons are learned from adverse events
Support the Registered Manager in the implementation of service initiatives and organisational objectives
Maintain a professional knowledge and skills base using current research and evidence based approaches to care, acting as a resource to others.
Liaise with senior staff in order to contribute to the hospital training plan.
Identify own and others training requirements
Ensure own and ward staff statutory and mandatory training is in date
Health & Safety:
Take reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others who may be affected by acts or omissions at work.
Cooperate with any requirements and adhere to statutory or other safety regulations.
Be familiar with all fire and similar regulations including evacuation procedures and act in accordance with them in any emergency situation
Ensure that all working practices and procedures comply with statutory regulation, codes of practice and safety guidance in force
Ensure that environmental risk assessments are developed and reviewed in order to identify and minimise actual or potential risks
Ensure that all emergency equipment is checked
Ensure staff comply with accident / incident and health & safety
 The above duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake duties as directed by the Registered Manager that are within the competence of the post holder and compatible with the expectations of the post.  
Job Requirements:
Candidates will need to have had at least 18 months experience in a managerial capacity.
Extensive experience as a qualified Registered Nurse in the fields of Mental Health and/or Learning Disabilities.
Candidates must have worked in an in-patient mental health setting with a sound knowledge of CAMHS and safeguarding authorities.
Experience working with adolescents
Sound knowledge or relevant legislation, MHA and clinical assessment tools
Excellent verbal, written communication skills as well as good level of IT skills
